How to Program the VM440TX (2-in-1) Monitor and Pagers
Setting up the Monitor
The following steps will guide you on retrieving the capcode (programming code) for the pagers so that they can sync with the main monitor as well as show you how to program the call buttons onto the main unit. Before you begin, please make sure that you have the main monitor with its power cable, call buttons and pager ready.
Video Guide:
The video below will outline the steps in this article.
Getting the Capcode for the Pager
The pager receives its message from the main unit via a capcode and you will need this code to program the pagers. To retrieve this code, unplug the main unit and then put the power cable back. Once the device powers on it will display three sets of two numbers, write them down, this is your capcode. In our video the code was 26 22 88.
To get the 2nd code that also needs to be programmed on the pager, simply plus 8 to the code you have, thus 26 22 88 plus 8 equals 26 22 96.
Programming the Buttons - Important Information
IMPORTANT: Note that each wireless call button is distinguished by the programming assigned to it. The button's programming is done via the DIP switches at the back of the button. When you turn the button around, you should see 10 small, white switches that are labeled from 1 - 10. These are the DIP switches. Numbers 1-5 control the channel of the button and numbers 6-10 control the DIP. Each channel can have a maximum of 31 DIPS, meaning, you can program 31 call buttons on one channel.
DO NOT use the same channel and DIP for sites that are close to each other as the signal and frequency will interfere.
As explained above, you will first need to program your buttons to a particular channel and dip. If you have 10 buttons, for example, you could program all 10 buttons on channel 1 (controlled by the first 5 switches at the back of the button) and then on DIPS 1-10 (controlled by switches 6-10 at the back of the button). Use the chart below to set your button's channel and DIP settings before continuing.

Programming the Buttons on the Main Unit
Now that you have allocated a channel and DIP to distinguish all of your buttons that you need to program we are ready to add them to the main monitor unit.
The next steps involve using the main unit's onboard programming functions. The controls can be found at the back of the unit and the buttons are labeled: Menu, ESC, SET, Move, Up, Down. Use these controls to program the buttons onto the unit.
Press and hold in the 'Menu' button. After a second or so the device will say 'Registration Bell number mode" and display F1 on the screen.
We now want to enter F1 (the programming function) and to do that you press the 'SET' button once.
Depending on what you programmed last on the monitor it will either show "0" or the last number that was programmed.
Use the 'UP' or 'DOWN' buttons to change the number to the desired number.
Should you have a number such as 11 or 20, then you can use the 'Move' button to enter double digits.
Once you have the correct number you want to program, press the 'SET' button once.
The device will prompt you to 'Push the Bell Button' and at this point you press the physical button that you want to register on the monitor.
The button is now registered on the device.
Repeat the process for the other numbers and buttons.
How to delete a button if registered incorrectly.
If you registered a button by mistake or with the wrong display number, you can follow the steps below to delete it and start over:
On the monitor, press and hold in the MENU key until it shows F1 on the screen.
Using the UP button, navigate to the F6 option.
Press the SET button once.
Press the button that was wrongly registered.
Press the SET button again, it will ask you if you are sure you want to delete the button
Press SET again and then press ESC to go back to the home screen.
The button has now been removed.
Note: If you wish to delete all the registered buttons, follow the same steps as above but then navigate to F7 instead of F6, then press the SET button twice and this will delete ALL buttons from the system. This action cannot be undone.
Assigning the correct voice prompt to the correct number
What we need to program now is to assign the correct voice prompt to the correct teller number.
Press the 'ESC' button to return to the programming menu (F1).
Use the 'UP' button to move to the F5 function.
Press the 'SET' button once.
Now use the 'UP' or 'Down' buttons to navigate to the display number.
Press the set button once more and the device will prompt 'Next Customer Please, Teller 1'
Now press the 'UP' button to change the voice prompt to match the teller number. For example, if the screen shows 5 then you need to adjust the voice prompt to say "Next Customer Please, Teller 5" using the 'UP' and 'Down' buttons as described in the steps above.
Once you've assigned the correct voice prompt to all your teller numbers, press the 'ESC' button twice on the device exit the programming mode.
Press all of your physical call buttons to test them and make sure they work as intended.
The call options on the button are divided like so
Programming the Pager
To program the pager(s), you will need the capcodes you gathered from the main unit in the first step of this guide.
On the front of the pager there are two buttons: MODE and PWR.
Take out the battery.
Press the MODE button and at the same time, while holding in the MODE button on the pager, put back the battery.
Cap 1 will appear on the screen. You can leave the MODE button at this time.
Press PWR button once to enter cap 1.
Use the PWR button to change the number digits to match the capcodes as given above and press the MODE button to move to the next number.
To save the setting: Press the MODE button until the pager shows cap 1 again.
Press and hold the MODE button in until the pager switches off and back on automatically. The setting is now saved.
If you have more than one capcode that you must program on the same pager, repeat the steps above. You will then start with cap 2 instead of one and if you have another capcode, that will be programmed on cap 3.
TO SET THE CALL OPTIONS ON THE PAGER:
Take out the battery.
Press the PWR Buttons and at the same time put back the battery.
Slot will appear on the screen.
The setting should be set to 'slot off'. If not, use the PWR button to change it to 'slot off'.
Move with MODE to the next setting: Vib on. Choose this if you want to set the pager automatically to vibration.
Move to Can on.
Move to Can MSG: (message) and select with PWR.
You will see C1 > move with mode: change the letters to the desired option. (Remember that C1 is the call option, C2 is option 1 and C3 is option 2 on the button)
Change C2 and C3 the same way.
Save the settings by holding the MODE button in until the pager switches off and on automatically.
