Vellux Wireless Nurse Call System for Akeso Clinics
Vellux Wireless Nurse Call System for Akeso Clinics
Solution Overview
The Vellux Wireless Nurse Call System comprises of the following components installed:
Monitor & Display Screens
Various Wireless Call Buttons
Wireless Pagers
Signal Equipment
This article will describe the function and operation of each of these components within the Akeso facility.
Monitor & Display Screens
The main monitor is the unit that ensures the entire system operates normally. It provides radio frequency signal to the nurse call buttons and the pagers. Should this unit be unplugged, the entire system will be off and won't function until the main monitor has power again. A small red light on the front of the monitor indicates that it has power and is functioning normally. When a nurse call button is pressed, you should see a green light, just above the red light, illuminate. This indicates that the monitor received the call from the nurse call button. The monitor functions independently of your mobile or Wi-Fi networks.
Each duty station is fitted with a TV display that will scroll through preset slideshows that can include images or videos and will display a slideshow as in the example below:
Content is created and managed by Head Office admins that have access to the software dashboard. The content can be changed and added remotely via our cloud-based software platform.
Wireless Nurse Call Buttons
Each room, in each section, is generally fitted with the following nurse call buttons:
A nurse call button at each bed
A nurse call button at the toilet
A waterproof nurse call button in the shower
An emergency call button for the room
All wireless buttons operate on a 23-A type battery that should last about a year or 2500 button presses. The battery is easy to change and you can watch this video from our YouTube channel to learn how to change it: Change the Vellux VB20HL button battery.
Nurse Call Message Displayed on the TV Screen
Should a nurse call button be pressed, the TV screen will display a message and prompt the nursing staff to attend to the call, urgently. The message contains the section, room number and bed number; and indicates if it is an emergency call or normal nurse call button that was pressed.
After the message is displayed, it will display a ribbon with the panic call information and a timer. Once the timer reaches a preset time, it will change color to yellow, to indicate the call has not been attended to. It will change to red if the call button is pressed more than once or if it goes over the preset acceptable time to attend to nurse calls.
Calls that have changed to red have become a high priority and will be displayed at the top of the screen. As soon as a call is attended to, it will disappear from the screen, indicating that the call is cancelled and attended to.
Here is a video that shows the process:
Wireless Pagers
Nursing staff are equipped with a wireless pager that clips onto their clothing. The pager will indicate and alert the nurse when a call button is pressed. This is helpful when the nurse is not at the duty station.
The wireless pagers work on a AAA battery and will last around 2 weeks. When the battery is low, it will beep and display the message: "low bat" on the screen. Simply open the back cover and swop out the battery with a new one. We recommend rechargeable batteries and the Energizer brand for optimal performance.
