How to program the Vellux “Next Customer Please” Queuing System
How to program the Vellux “Next Customer Please” Queuing System
Here is a quick video, showing you how to program/delete a button onto the monitor. For detailed steps, please read the article below the video.
1. Identifying Your Equipment
Equipment could vary depending on the type of installation but generally you would need access to the following equipment to start programming it.
The Monitor - VM400/VM440
The monitor is installed at the start of your queue in most cases. Again, depending on the type of installation your model could look different but the functions remain the same.
The Buttons - VB200
Buttons are located at the till points from which the teller can call the next customer to the till.
2. Programming your system
When you have the buttons and you are next to the monitor, please follow the below steps to program a button onto the monitor:
Firstly, decide which number the button must display (the till number).
Then have a look at the back cover of the monitor, there are 6 small white switches (Menu, ESC, SET, Move, Up, Down). If you are using the older model, you will have to loosen the four screws at the corners of the cover to reveal the switches. Please refer to the photo below
Press and hold the “Menu” button for about 5 seconds, you will hear a sound playing that says: “registration bell number mode.”
Then press the “SET” button once. On the front of the monitor, it will show a “0.” Or if you have previously installed buttons, it will show a different number.
Use the “UP” and “DOWN” buttons to change the numbers to what you want the button to display, e.g., if you want the button to display till number 7 then you must press the up key at the back of the monitor until it displays number 7 on the front of the monitor. See the photo below:
When it shows the correct number that you want the button to display, then press the “SET” button at the back of the monitor. A sound will play that says: “Push the bell button” and the number will flicker, then press the physical button. Another sound will play that says: “Completed registration.” You have now programmed that button to only display number 7.
Now you can program the next button in the same way. If you need to program a button that is above 9, then you need to press the “MOVE” button.
Let’s say you have a till number 15 that needs a button, then you can program it in this way: press the “UP” button until it shows number 5 on the front of the monitor, then press the “MOVE” button at the back. A sound will play that says: “Move the digits,” you will now see on the monitor that it shows: 0.5. Now press the “UP” button to change the 0 to a 1. See the photos below:
Once it shows 1.5 on the monitor, press the “SET” button at the back of the monitor. A sound will play that says: “Push the bell button” then press the physical button you want to program. Another sound will play that says: “Completed registration.” You have now registered that button to show till number 15.
The next step is to assign the “next customer please” sound to the appropriate button number. Please note that in older models of the NCP Queuing system, the F5 option is not available because it cannot play the sound that says: next customer please teller number 7. If that is the case, then the button only needs to be registered as in steps 1 – 9.
Press the “ESC” button at the back of the monitor once. The screen will now show “F1.” Then press the “UP” button until you get to “F5.” A sound will play saying: “Assign sound mode.”
Press the “SET” button at the back of the monitor. A number will appear on the screen and will flash. This part of the menu will show all the buttons you have successfully registered on the monitor. Press the “Down” button until you see the number you have registered in the previous steps (in our example it was number 7 and 15). I will be using number 7 for this example.
Once you found your number, press the “SET” key at the back of the monitor. A sound will play that says: “Next customer please, teller 1.” But this must be linked to the number, for example, if the button you programmed must show number 7 then the sound must be: next customer please, teller 7. To do that you have to press the “UP” button at the back of the monitor until you hear the appropriate sound for the teller number displayed on the front screen of the monitor. For example, if it shows teller 7 on the screen you have to press the “UP” button until the sound plays that says: next customer please, teller 7. Then press the “SET” button again, the screen will show F5 and you have to repeat the above steps for each button you registered. Do this for each of the buttons you have registered in the previous steps (Steps 1 – 9).
Once you are done, press the “ESC” button at the back of the monitor, twice, until the screen displays two horizontal stripes. Press the buttons that was couriered to you to make sure they display correctly and that the sound matches the number displayed. (e.g. Next customer please teller 15 when the screen shows 15).
If your buttons are correctly registered then proceed to stick them to the correct till point using double sided tape.
3. How to delete a button if registered incorrectly.
If you registered a button by mistake or with the wrong display number, you can follow the steps below to delete it and start over:
On the monitor, press and hold in the MENU key until it shows F1 on the screen.
Using the UP button, navigate to the F6 option.
Press the SET button once.
Press the button that was wrongly registered.
Press the SET button again, it will ask you if you are sure you want to delete the button
Press SET again and then press ESC to go back to the home screen.
The button has now been removed.
Note: If you wish to delete all the registered buttons, follow the same steps as above but then navigate to F7 instead of F6, then press the SET buttton twice and this will delete ALL buttons from the system. This action cannot be undone.
